Insulation. This project sorta just happened because its freezing, just too cold or rainy these past weekends to resume the outside work, and since the electrical rough in had been completed. Why not? Especially with the availability of Russ to assist. This was defntly a project for two workers. There’s not lot of pictures, the house was getting trashed, and it was freezing. The phones had to stay warm buried in a coat pocket or wrapped up on the charging cord. This project occurred on Jan 28 thru 30 2022.

Russ - securing the insulation to the inside face of the rafters. We used an air stapler and then an electric stapler. The electric stapler was better, much quieter.

Shown here in this picture. R19 in the walls.

Just prior to insulating, the holes were filled with spray foam, and nail gaurds were placed in areas we thought the wires may be too close to stud edge. This step really should have been done during the electrical rough in.

R30 and R30C in the cielings. R30C is for cathedral cielings. It expands to 8.25 inches. R30 expands to 10.25 inches. The R30C should allow for max airflow above the insulation and below the roof sheathing. This rafter cavity is 11.25 inches.

Notice some of the temp wiring still present, soon to be taken down.

Just illustrating some of the temps we experienced once the insulation had been installed. This was a combination of small electric heaters, kerosene heater, and a propane jet heater at times. Outside temperatures were around 30 F.
