Possums Paradise is served by a deep well. It was measured at 600’ deep. A 1 HP pump was placed 300’ down. At the time the water height was 125’ from the surface. The previous owner had dug the well. We set the pump and equipment. Before doing so, a one on one was set with Drillers Service here in Columbia. We got a lot of good instruction and education from them on how to do this properly, and of course bought the equipment from them. Not a lot of pics due to the weather. The well pump was installed Oct 19 2019.
The choice was to use 1” black poly tube to the well pump. Seen here is 300’ roll.
The pump has been lowered, and braced. Ready for next step.
We made up some 2x4 clamps to prevent a “runaway” pump. We used some 3 inch screws to squeeze the boards together, thus clamping the pipe.
The piping and wiring has been done, water is available at this point.
The Well Head - profile view.
The well head is also protected by a length of 1/4” bar stock. Hopefully if a tree were to come down it would simply bounce of this supported “saw horse” The 2x8 on top serves as a sacrificial piece of lumber to be changed out every few years if necessary. All the components for the well head can be serviced by removing the expanded metal via #2 square drive. Having the ability to get a quick glance at the pressure gauge has been immensely helpful during the initial stages.
No tiny well house. The pressure vessel was painted camo and stuck in the woods. Pipe work has been insulated. There is a drain spigot on the back side of the pressure tank.
